Hot Springs

Heritage Drive Day 2 Tuesday 2nd June

Left Baradine and drove out along the Cumberland Road through the Pilliga forest. Lovely long drive throughine forest. Earth is that deep red colour.
Stopped at Pilliga for morning tea then more red roads to Burren Junction.
Had a fun time at the springs. There were lots of caravans of grey nomads camping there. Some stay for months and often catch up with the same people each time they come. They were a jolly bunch of oldies who proved growing old could be a fun thing. They floated around the springs on pool noodles which one of the guys had made into horses.
Long drive in afternoon to Collarenebri. Very flat plains. All so dry.

Happy Hour with friends

Camped tonight at the oval. Ladies from the hospital auxillary put on a tremendous home cooked feed. One of them seemed to know the blonde flight nurse who comes to town!

Dined under the stars. Entertained by Charlie, a local who sang more as he drank more. He kept asking the audience for more scotch.

The stars out here defy description. The Milky WY is clearer than I have seen before. Slept really well again.

Next morning a quick pack up and back on the road again. Having problems with heavy dews, totally soaking the tent not enough time to allow it to dry so we pack up a soaking tent each day hoping to dry it at the next destination. Only consolation is that every body has the same problem even 50-60 K campers.
